Describe the path to your current vocation.
My mom was a preschool teacher while I was growing up and I was blessed to have many good teachers. Their impact on my life became apparent as I discovered a love for teaching and helping others during high school, and I decided to attend Concordia University Nebraska for training in Lutheran Education. I gained some experience teaching as a sub at a Lutheran boarding high school in Missouri before taking the call to serve at Bethany.
When did you become a Lutheran?
My entire family is Lutheran, so I have been one since my baptism on October 15, 1990.
What do you love most about your job?
I love opening the minds of young people to discovery. Each student comes to the classroom with their own personality and experience, and I love getting to know them and know things about them. I love the moments when a student, a small group, or the entire class grows in their faith, understands a concept, or forms an opinion. I feel blessed to be a part of their life's journey and provide them with a few useful lessons along the way.
What was your longest or most favorite road trip?
My favorite road trip was in the church van from Minnesota to eastern Tennessee for a mission trip. It was humbling to be part of a group of young Christians bringing aid to people who truly needed it.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include reading, playing music and singing, board games, and trivia.
