Describe the path to your current vocation.

I went to Lutheran Schools my whole life, from Kindergarten through college. Much of my family (aunts, uncles, grandparents) were Lutheran school teachers. Through the Lord's and my family's support, I have worked to be a Lutheran school teacher myself. I attended Concordia University Nebraska to earn my teaching degree and Lutheran Teacher's Diploma. It is my passion in life to work with children and remind them of the grace, mercy and love that is given to them in the blood of Christ. I served 4 years in a call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Bourbonnais, IL and was overjoyed to join my husband, Josh Schultz, in service of the mission at Bethany in 2016.

When did you become a Lutheran?

I was born into a LCMS family and was one of many generations to be baptized and attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington, IL

What do you love most about your job?

I love working with other forgiven sinners for the mission of teaching the children of God about his promises and sharing the word with the ones who have not heard.  I adore children and love every moment experiencing their discoveries. It is my honor to share in their joy and curiosity as I facilitate their learning, guide their social interactions and empower them toward their independent selves.

What was your longest or most favorite road trip?

My favorite road trip was not the longest I've traveled. I needed a ride to North Platte, NE from Concordia University and another freshman offered to drive myself and my friend with whom I had attended school all of my years. In the 3.5 hours we spent in the car there and 3.5 back, we started a very deep friendship. We three would attend church together through most of college, and we have been involved in each other's weddings. These two are some of my closest brothers in Christ and this road trip was the start of it all.

What are your hobbies?

While I have loved participating in competitive Ballroom dancing, I have not had the time or funds to continue in it. I instead spend my free time in board games with my husband and friends, painting, writing, and seeing theater shows. I also enjoy spending time growing in my knowledge of herpetology.
