Science centers
Here are some pictures of the science centers we did on Friday!
We challenged ourselves to see how many ways we could "name" a number in 5 minutes.
We found some new brothers and sisters in math when we found our fact family and practiced writing our related facts.
We were all very brave and tried many new fruits and vegetables! We sampled dragonfruit, kumquats, freeze-dried apples and strawberries (like astronauts eat!), starfruit, pineapple, orange pepper, cucumbers, broccoli, radishes and carrots.
We tested carrots, butter, potato chips and pretzels to see which foods contain oil and left a greasy spot on our papers.
We practiced making words with the long vowel sound spelled consonant-vowel-consonant-e (CVCe words).
We played a game with related addition and subtraction facts to help us solve for the mystery number that was on our head! You can play at home too! All you need is a deck of playing cards with face cards removed, and 3 people!
Assignment: Interview a grandparent (a parent if grandparent isn't available) and ask them what methods of communication they used when they were your age and how it was different than how we communicate today.
Comment to this post by 8:00am Monday, 9/12 to turn in your assignment. Remember to say who you interviewed!
