We traced our foot, cut it out, and used our foot to measure distances around our school. We each measured our own foot and saw that none of our feet are actually 1 foot! We also graphed the sizes of our feet and saw that we have various sizes of feet in our classroom which again means we need to have a standard foot unit of measurement.

We surveyed our classmates, created a tally chart with the information, then turned made a tally chart to show the information. We also had to write questions about our graph for a classmate and Mrs. Janetzke to solve!
As we work on our paragraph organization we talk about how to color-code the information in our paragraphs based on their purpose. Blue is our Lead, Green is our Topic and Conclusion sentences, Yellow is our Key/Star Ideas and Red are the E's (Evidence, Examples, Extra Information). Here we're doing partner-work to color-code an example paragraph.
We enjoyed playing Construct-a-saurus on the computer, reading dinosaur books, playing dinosaur games, digging for fossils in clay, examining real fossils, and trying to put dinosaur skeleton puzzles together. We all concluded the same thing- being a paleontologist is time-consuming, difficult and sometimes frustrating work, but it can be very rewarding when we figure it out!

We learned about both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Since Presidents have to work with a team, we did teamwork projects. We worked in pairs to partner read a book about George Washington. Then, we worked together to write down important facts we learned that we wanted to teach our classmates. We also worked together on illustrating George based on the book we read. We then presented our posters to our classmates and were shocked to learn so many different facts about George's spies, teeth, dogs and life!
