Fire Station

As we walked up the station's driveway, the fire fighters pulled out and left on a call.  Since it was nice, we decided to sit and wait a few minutes to see if they would return quickly.  Luckily, they did!  We enjoyed touring the house, hearing a special announcement alarm to greet us, and learning about their truck and equipment.  We also took a special thank you poster to them!

Simple Machines

After learning about Simple Machines we got to explore some household items to find what simple machines they use, try building our own simple machines, create our own inventions, and work together as a class to follow the directions to create a Lego chain reaction.  After many rebuilds, practice attempts, and modifications, we finally got it on video!

Guest Teacher

Mr. Downs came in to talk to us about being a 9-1-1 Operator!  We learned about knowing when to call 911 and what information they need to know.  We heard about all the different ways he serves and protects the people of Naperville.  We also enjoyed the goodie bags he brought us.  Thanks! :)

Patriotic Unit

We learned about our country's history and government while also learning the stories behind many American symbols.  We made our own Statue of Liberty torches, redesigned the American flag, made a Pledge of Allegiance collage and had a blast at our Patriotic Party where we played Uncle Sam tag and enjoyed star-spangled treats!
