Exercise lab

As part of our nutrition unit, we looked at how the heart pumps blood and what the effect of exercise is on our heart rate.

Language Arts practice

This week we’ve practiced changing sentences from fantasy to reality and vice-versa, and using words with consonant blends. For our blends practice we had fun traveling around from desk to desk to add words and then go back and see what others had written!

Fruit and veggie tasting

For our fruit and veggie tasting we tried freeze-dried apples and strawberries, kiwi, rambutans, apple pears, asparagus, edamame, and avocado. Most everyone found something new that they liked!

Grease spot experiment

We tested potato chips, pretzels, carrots, and butter to see which foods would leave a grease spot on our paper. If they did, it meant they had oil in them and we should limit how much we eat of them!

STEAM night

Thanks to all the families who came out to experiment, investigate, and learn at our force and motion STEAM night!

Long vowel word work

We practiced making long vowel words that end in silent e with the game “Cake Maker”.

Royal 26.2 kick-off

We had a beautiful day to kick off our Royal 26.2 marathon run! Grades K-4 are participating this year and all met first in the gym for stretches and then got to run our first quarter mile in the parking lot.

2 Facts and a Fib

We practiced writing complete sentences using an activity called 2 Facts and a Fib.  At each station we had to write 2 fact sentences and 1 fib sentence about the poster.  Then we got to have a fib-finding friend find each of our fib sentences!

Word work

We used many different activities to practice words with short vowels and sight words.

Pattern block fun in Math

We enjoyed exploring and building with pattern blocks, all while learning the names of the shapes and telling what we like about each other's designs to practice using the shape names.

Indoor Recess

A poorly timed rain shower meant we got to have our 1st indoor recess of the year already!  The students enjoyed getting to play with these special games and toys though!
