Here are pictures from our Chinese New Year party day. From finishing our dragons, to sharing our dragons during the virtual parade, enjoying our Chinese feast and opening our red envelopes, we had a very fun day wrapping up our Chinese New Year unit and kicking off Lutheran Schools Week!

Oobleck
To end our Science unit on Matter, we had a blast investigating an unknown substance, Oobleck, and applying everything we learned during the unit!
100th Day Celebration
To celebrate our 100th day of school, we:
dressed as a centenarian, or someone from 100 years ago
became 1 in 100!
made a 1-0-0 digit picture. Can you find all the digits hidden in their creative designs?
challenged ourselves to make 100 in various Math puzzles
made a word map of “centenarian”
practiced reading 100 noun sight words, including seeing if we could read them in 100 seconds (video)
used our 100 noun sight words to play charades with a partner and then pictionary as a class

Changing matter experiment: students designed 3 ways to change their playdoh, tested them, and recorded if they were reversible or irreversible. Then they combined their color with another to create an irreversible new color!
How fast can you melt an ice cube? experiment: Students each designed their own method for melting their ice cube using materials at hand. They then carried it out and timed themselves. From desk lamp heat, blow drier, hand sanitizer, to trying to break it down or just hold it in their hand, we all had fun!
