Week 8 pictures

Pictures from this week include:

  • Heart rate lab in Science where we exercised to see what happened to our heart rate

  • Main Idea and Detail Consensus Board- while watching a read-aloud video of the book Desert Giant: The Life of the Saguaro Cactus we each wrote down details we thought were important. After the book, we shared our details with a small group then worked together to create a consensus of what the main idea of the book was.

  • Using milk cap letters to practice making short vowel words while doing a Word Ladder activity. This also helps us practice our phonics encoding skills and also learn some new vocabulary!

  • Math Attribute Train- starting with the big green triangle, can you figure out which 2 attributes are the same and which is different as you go from shape to shape? The attributes are size, color, and shape.

  • Writing- To introduce the writing trait of Writer’s Voice, we read a story called Red- A Crayon’s Story. We each then chose 1 color to draw pictures that would use that color. We then wrote words that those pictures make us think of or feel. Finally, we each shared our words to hear our writer’s voice come to life!

  • Paper Plate Meals- to end our Nutrition unit in Science, we each got to plan a healthy meal of our choice (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). We looked through grocery store ads to get ideas, then cut out foods that we wanted, and glued them onto their correct food group on the MyPlate. Finally, we analyzed our meal to see how healthy it was.
