Fermilab presentation

We had so much fun testing out Newton’s laws of physics during our force and motion presentation from a scientist at Fermilab. He shared with us that he enjoys coming to Bethany each year because he is a Christian and loves learning about God through our world.

Simple Machines

We’ve enjoyed learning about the 6 simple machines, seeing how they combine to make compound machines, and building things with the simple machines.

Levers Lab

While learning about Simple Machines, we experimented with levers. We challenged ourselves to see if we could balance the lever on the fulcrum. We also experimented with lifting the same load but putting the fulcrum at different points to change the length of the load arm. We discovered that the closer the fulcrum is to the load, the easier it is to lift!

Fire station trip

Before going to the fire station, we made Fire Fighter Survival Kits to deliver. Even though our fire fighters were busy at multiple calls when we went, we enjoyed some fresh air and playing tag outside the station! We dropped off our kits and they emailed us back to express their appreciation.

To practice adding detail to sentences using adjectives and adverbs, we worked in groups to stretch a basic sentence into a very detailed sentence.

Curriculum Fair

Thanks to all for coming and checking out all the hard work by the students! We worked very hard on our projects and proudly shared all the work and knowledge with you.

GeoWorlds

We enjoyed reviewing our solid figures by learning how to make them from pieces of paper. We then constructed a world with the shapes to display for Curriculum Fair. Thanks to the DuPage Children’s Museum for coming and presenting the project!

Stars and Stripes Redesign

While learning about our flag, we learned that it hasn’t always looked the same, and at times, people didn’t even all use a flag with the same design! We each had fun redesigning our stars and stripes. We still had to use red, white, and blue, and have stars and stripes. Enjoy their creations!

Lady Liberty

After learning about the Statue of Liberty, we each made our own Lady Liberty torches!
